Pulmonary circulation and myocardium
Translational projects to better understand pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension, lung vascular remodeling and effects on the myocardium in order to identify new therapeutic targets. Current projects relate to: (a) the effects of adipokines (leptin and chemerin) and of BMPR2 and endothelin-1 signaling pathways on endothelial dysfunction, remodeling and intercellular communication within the pulmonary arteriolar wall; (b) the pathogenesis of right heart failure and the role of SDF-1; (c) the impact of brain death on pulmonary circulation and right heart.
