Translational projects to better understand pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension, lung vascular remodeling and effects on the
myocardium in order to identify new therapeutic targets. Current projects relate to: (a) the effects of adipokines (leptin and
chemerin) and of BMPR2 and endothelin-1 signaling pathways on endothelial dysfunction, remodeling and intercellular communication
within the pulmonary arteriolar wall; (b) the pathogenesis of right heart failure and the role of SDF-1; (c) the impact of brain death
on pulmonary circulation and right heart.
