This project deals with properties of infinitesimal plane waves in elasticity and electromagnetism of anisotropic materials (crystal acoustics and crystal optics). Special attention is given to inhomogeneous waves, those waves with an attenuation direction different from the propagation direction. Properties related to acoustic or optic axes, energy flux, wave surfaces, and wave polarization are investigated. Electromechanical interactions are also considered.
